Dodge County Commissioners approved a net levy of $12,694,159 at last week’s board meeting, an increase of 5.1 percent.

The Dodge County Wildcats have been riding a wave of momentum over the past week as they picked up a victory over New Ulm before heading up to Warroad and picking up a two more victories in a holiday tournament.
The week began for Dodge County by hosting New Ulm at Four Seasons Ice Arena on Dec. 22. This game represented another strong test for the Wildcats as the Eagles were ranked 13th in Class A heading into the contest.

The Kasson-Mantorville boys basketball team seems to be hitting its stride after an early rough stretch to the season. With several injuries, shooting slumps and defensive lapses, the beginning of the year hasn’t gone completely to plan, but showed plenty of promise after a 65-40 victory at Stewartville on Dec. 22.

Central Valley Cooperative, headquartered in Owatonna, will be merging with WFS (Watonwan Farm Service), a cooperative based in Truman, the two cooperatives announced last week.

Residents of the Triton School District will see the school portion of their 2016 tax bill decreasing by 13.5 percent after the school board approved a final 2015 Payable 2016 levy certification of $2,092,984 compared to a 2015 budget of $2,419,683.
Broken down by fund, the 2016 levy includes $1,176,790 for the General Fund, $120,235 for the Community Service Fund and $795,959 for Debt Redemption.

Notice is hereby given that the City of Kasson will hold a public hearing in review of Part 2 of its Wellhead Protection Plan consistent with the Minnesota Wellhead Protection Rule (part 4720.5350, subpart 4). The public hearing will be held during the City Council meeting scheduled for January 13, 2016, at the Kasson City Hall, 401 5th St SE, Kasson, MN.

Chair Henslin called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Those members present: Melissa Kubat, Lloyd Henslin, Jr., Dale Jensen, Bryce Kleinwort, Tracy Petersohn and Jon Streiff; absent: Chad Johnson.   Also present: Superintendent Brett Joyce, Principal Craig Schlichting, Student Council Representative Charles Groll, Patty Braeger and 10 visitors.
