Wilford (Jack) Ragsdale, 93, Arizona

Kenton Spading’s father-in-law Wilford (Jack) Ragsdale passed away peacefully on Jan. 5, 2016, in Phoenix, Arizona where he resided with his daughter Cindy and son-in-law Dick.  Jack was born on Oct. 23, 1926 in Mississippi County, Arizona on the east side of the Little Colorado River in his family’s farmhouse.  He attended a one-room schoolhouse near Bay Village, Arizona.  

Dean William Wright, 77, West Concord

Dean William Wright, 77, of West Concord, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 at the Zumbrota Care Center in Zumbrota. 
Dean was born Feb. 28, 1938 in Owatonna the son of Leslie and Ruth (Spreiter) Wright.  He was a 1956 graduate of West Concord High School and in 1960 graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Agricultural Science.  

Kasson-Mantorville students tell about their ‘Vision For America’

Two Kasson-Mantorville students were two of nearly 40,000 high school students in the country who entered the Voice of Democracy (VOD) contest in hopes of winning a share of the $2 million in educational scholarships. 
Senior Jessica Marsland won the first place prize of $100 and sophomore Charles Miller took the second place prize of $75. 

Legion breakfast supports cancer telethon

They were serving up French toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausages at the West Concord American Legion Post Sunday morning. The Post serves breakfast to the public every Sunday morning but this past Sunday’s event was special.
One hundred percent of the proceeds were donated to the Eagles Cancer Telethon, a long-running event in southern Minnesota scheduled for this weekend.

Crusaders too much for Blooming Prairie basketball teams

Down by just eight points with 5 minutes left in the half, a Loyola press forced Blooming Prairie turnovers and a 20-2 run for the Crusaders in a 68-33 girls basketball victory over the locals at Mankato Saturday. Jan. 9.  
The Blossoms now stand at 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Local family blessed to have big family

For many years Jason and Val Lindahl prayed that one day they would be blessed with more children.  Although many opportunities to adopt children fell through the cracks, they never gave up hope. 
The Lindahl’s, of Dodge Center, knew that if it were meant to be that it would happen.
