In January, the Blooming Prairie School Board will welcome one new board member. Two members of the Blooming Prairie School Board were also re-elected on Tuesday.

The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Panthers volleyball team defeated St. Peter 3-0 Monday, Nov. 2 in the Section 2AA quarterfinals at Mankato East High School.

The Owatonna Huskies have only been kept out of the end zone once in over five years of play. Last Tuesday, Northfield managed to do just that, holding the Huskies to a single field goal en route to a 15-3 section win. 

The American Legion in Dodge Center was packed last Saturday for the first Think Pink Women’s Expo as people came not only to peruse various vendors, but also to support a cause, fighting cancer. 
The event was put on by the Fishin’ to Fight Cancer Dodge County Relay team along with some friends and family of team members. The event raised over $33,000, all of which will go toward the 2016 Dodge County Relay.

The Triton football team was rolling after a 75-6 victory over St. Charles in the opening round of the section 1AA tournament last week. With the Cobras showing how good they could be, they were going to be a tough draw for a Lewiston-Altura team that had ended their season a year ago.

They started to arrive at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson well before 11 a.m. last Thursday. Yes, the bake sale opened at 9 a.m. but that was not really why they came. The real prize was the lutefisk dinner, that Minnesota tradition that turns up every fall, usually at Lutheran churches with a Norwegian heritage.

Beginning with next week’s edition of the Dodge County Independent, the newspaper will have a new print schedule. 
The DCI will now be printed on Wednesdays instead of the previous schedule of Tuesdays. That means subscribers will receive their newspaper one day later than what they have been accustomed to in the past. 

“Feeding People. Changing Lives.” That is exactly what the Kasson-Mantorville School District hopes to do for the sixth annual Student Food Drive, sponsored by the Channel One Regional Food Bank. 
The mission of the drive is “to unite and empower area high school students in the commitment to feed the hungry and to promote volunteerism.” 

Rilee Bjerke is one in a million for more than one reason. Every minute spent with Rilee is a miracle and not taken for granted. 
Rilee and her family have been fighting for her life every second since she was just two years old. Rilee, 16, is a sophomore at Kasson-Mantorville.
