Mother allegedly runs over son in Salem Township

A 37 year old man received significant lower body injuries, Monday evening, after allegedly being run over by a vehicle driven by his mother.

BREAKING NEWS: KASSON'S SHOPKO CLOSING

Shopko will be closing in Kasson. One of the remaining 120 department stores, including one in Rochester, as well as Mason City and Winona, will be closing by mid-June. 
Shopko said Monday the company was unable to find a buyer for its business. The company plans to begin winding down its retail operations this week.

BREAKING NEWS: Large ice dam being monitored in Dodge County

Dodge County officials are monitoring a large ice dam that could potentially cause damage to people along the path.
The dam is located just south of Berne on the Middle Fork of the Zumbro River. The dam is just west of the Highway 57 bridge that has backed up a large amount of water on the river. 

KoMets fall in Section Tournament

The Kasson-Mantorville boys basketball team saw their season come to a close last week as they fell to Northfield in the opening round of the Section 1AAA tournament
on Mar. 6. The defeats ends a tough year for the KoMets as they finished the season with a 4-23 record (4-11 HVL), but the team’s improvement in several areas helps Nick Pocius’ team grow off the court.

2019 means new beginnings for new DC administrator

For new Dodge Center City Administrator  Josh Tetzlaff, the last year has meant a lot of new beginnings for his family and him.
In the last few months, Tetzlaff and his family moved to a new state, he started a new job, and his wife and him are expecting their second child in the next couple of months.
“This adventure has been a lot of firsts for the both of us,” Tetzlaff said.

Charles James (Jim) Brown, 77, Kasson, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester from kidney failure and heart attack.

William Edward Koss, 89, Dodge Center

William Edward Koss, 89, passed away at Fairview Care Center on Sunday evening March 3, 2019 in Dodge Center.  
The memorial service was held Thursday, March 7, 2019 at St. John Baptiste de la Salle Parish with Father Thomas Niehaus officiating.

Linda D. Hutchinson , 70, Cleveland

Linda D. Hutchinson, 70, passed away in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, from cancer, after suffering this past year.
Linda was born in Bancroft, Iowa to the parents of Gerald and Mary Hutchinson on Aug. 19, 1948.

Raymond Oswald Schmitz, 88, West Concord

Raymond Oswald Schmitz, 88, of West Concord, died Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Kenyon Sunset Home.
He was born May 16, 1930 in Two Inlets the son of Leo and Caroline (Taskey) Schmitz. Ray grew up near Two Inlets and graduated from Park Rapids High School.  During his school years, he worked fall harvest in North Dakota.  

Clarice Peterson named KPL Friend of the Year

At its Annual Meeting, the Friends of the Kasson Public Library honored Clarice Peterson of Kasson with their 2018 Friend of the Year Award.  Peterson is one of the most active members of that organization.  She volunteers her time to support the many programs offered by the Kasson Library.  These include the Summer Reading Program, the Coloring Club, and the Sewing Club.
