The Kasson-Mantorville volleyball team is heading back to the state tournament. The KoMets advanced to state for the third straight year after claiming their third consecutive Section 1AA championship by defeating Stewartville and Lake City last week.

Jean L. Baldwin, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 29 at Traditions 1 in Owatonna.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Pastor­­­ Amanda Weinkauf officiating. Burial to follow service at St. John Cemetery.

 
Age didn’t get in the way for K-M School District voters on Tuesday as they elected Zach  Peterson as one of their three School Board Members.
 
Peterson received 22.3 percent of the vote to pick up the third seat over Rob Hamlin by about three percent and a little over 200 votes.
 

 
Since 2016 the Triton School District has tried to pass a operational levy referendum to help secure necessary funding for the school district.
After being unsuccessful last year by only about 30 votes there was plenty of confidence going into the vote on Tuesday that it would be passed.

Voters have ousted incumbents Doug Buck and Coy Borgstrom from the Kasson City Council after Tuesday’s election.
Melisa “Mel” Ferris has been elected to the council with 31 percent of the vote (1,389 votes) as well as Duane David Burton with 23 percent (1,050 votes).
Mayor Chris McKern was re-elected to the council as he was unopposed in the election.
 

With unofficial results from the Mantorville City Council Election coming in it looks like Incumbent Chuck Bradford will reclaim his seat as Mayor. 
Unofficial results: In the Mantorville Mayor Race, Incumbent Chuck Bradford reclaimed his position winning by more than 180 votes according to the SOS Office.

When Mike Ronningen, 44,  of Kasson walked up to the voting booth and casted his vote it marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
For the first time in his life he had the right to vote in an election.
“I been waiting for this day for a while,” he said.

A few years ago, a group of church members from United Methodist Church, in Dodge Center got together and talked about how they could help children in the school district who struggle with access to healthy foods.
They were talking about how kids who are on free and reduced lunch don’t have opportunities to get these services during the summer or weekends and they brainstormed on how they could help with this.
