KMMS lends a helping hand

At the beginning of the school year, Kasson-Mantorville Middle School wanted to place an emphasis on lending a helping hand in the community. They also wanted to get more people seeing what was going on at the school and all of the good things that are happening within that building.

Run, hide, and fight.
That is a phase that K-M Superintendent Mark Matuska never thought he would have to use when he began his career in education.
That phase echoed the halls of K-M High School last week as more than 100 first responders took place in an active shooter drill at the school.

D.C. Pumas make history as first Minnesota all Hispanic 4-H Club

In one word that’s how leaders of the D.C. Pumas, the only all Hispanic 4-H club in Minnesota, describe their group.
Four years ago the group formed after a group of parents decided that they wanted to have their children be involved with the special program that is known as 4-H.

Donald H. Parker, 84, Owatonna

Donald Howard Parker, 84, of Owatonna, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at Homestead Hospice House.
He was born July 20, 1934 in Republic, Kansas, the son of Charles D. and Ruby (Powers) Parker. Donald graduated from Republic High School in 1953. After graduation, he moved to Minnesota where he worked at Central Coop. 

Thomas Hall, 94, West Concord

Thomas L. Hall, 94, of West Concord, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

Gregory W. Greseth, 32, Wanamingo

Gregory W. Greseth age 32, of Wanamingo, died on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 in a motor vehicle accident.
The funeral service was Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church – Aspelund in rural Wanamingo. Burial with military honors by the Wanamingo Veterans Honor Guard was in the church cemetery.

Larry Mark Behsman, 75, Brownsville Texas

Larry Mark Behsman, age 75, peacefully passed away on Oct. 10, 2018 at his home in Brownsville, Texas with his loving wife of 52 years, Mary LaVonne (Krey) Behsman, by his side.  
Larry was born on All Saints Day, Nov. 1, 1942 in Owatonna to Herman and Florence (Peterson) Behsman. Larry started school attending country school in Wasioja and in 1961, graduated from Dodge Center High School in Dodge Center.

Matt Maas joins Dodge Center City Council

When former Dodge Center City Councilor Josh Jorgenson moved out of city limits he was required to vacate his seat on the council.
Since he served more than half his term Dodge Center was not required to hold a Special Election to fill the seat and instead the Mayor was able to appoint someone with the consent of the council.
