David Wilton Vrieze, 80, of West Concord, died Monday, Oct.  29, 2018 at Samaritan Bethany Home in Rochester.
He was born March 9, 1938 in Dodge County to Wilton “Bud” and Doris (Erickson) Vrieze.

Raymond Bertrand Duff, age 83, of Kasson passed away Friday, Oct. 26 at 6:50 p.m. surrounded by family. 
He was born on June 29,1935 to Roscoe and Harriett (Cook) Duff of Scranton, Iowa, the oldest of three boys. Raymond lived in Kasson, for the past 21 years. Previously he lived in Rochester, Leroy, and near McIntire/Riceville, Charles City, and Scranton, Iowa.

Chandra "Naunie" Joy Calhoun, 48, of Kaukauna, Wis., passed away on Oct. 26, 2018 at her home, of natural causes.

With the Kasson-Mantorville theater department currently in its run of “Beauty and The Beast” for the fall musical, it’s a great opportunity to give students a chance to express their passions. While most of the play centers around the young actors and actresses that bring the play to life, Beauty and The Beast is unique in that it requires many complex props.

No major developments came out of a brief court appearance last week for a Dodge County area grandmother who faces a possible death sentence in Florida.
The attorney for Lois Riess, 56, appeared for a case management hearing Oct. 31 in Lee County Florida. Samantha Syoen of the Florida State Attorney’s Office said Riess did not appear in court for the hearing.

A few months ago the City of Dodge Center began its search for a new city administrator after Lee Mattson left to take a post in Waseca.
After an intensive search, and application process the city council and mayor unanimously voted on Monday to name Josh Tetzlaff as its new city administrator, pending successful contract negotiations.

Last week when I walked into the DCI office I had some mail waiting for me on the counter that had just been delivered.
It’s not to uncommon for me to receive mail at the office like magazines, letters to the editor, or other things to that nature.
But when I saw an envelope addressed to me with a LA Dodgers logo on it I was very intrigued.

She’s become known as the neighborhood jokester of Kasson. And her intentions are harmless in wanting to bring smiles to people on the receiving end of her jokes.
