Leonard Jorgenson, 95, of Kasson, peacefully left this earth Monday evening, May 3, 2021 and entered victoriously into his Heavenly Father’s care. Leonard was born on June 29, 1925 in Mantorville Township, to Harry and Blanche (Olive) Jorgenson.
Leonard completed country school through the 8th grade and worked on the family farm until being drafted into the Army in 1951.
Janice Audrey (Rice) Lorch, 78, passed away unexpectedly on May 6, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. She was born in Albert Lea on April 22, 1943, to Harry and Ann (Terpstra) Rice and was raised in Hollandale.
Evelyn R. Knudson, 60, of rural Racine, Minn., formerly a longtime Dodge Center resident, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021, following a short illness, at Mayo Clinic – Saint Marys Campus, where she had been a patient for the past three weeks.
It is with profound sadness that the family of David Ralph Bircher announces his passing at Hôpital Saint-Francois d’Assise in Quebec City on March 16, 2021. David was the beloved husband of Carol Nickel Bircher of Byron for 60 years.
Born in Wisconsin, and raised in Iowa, he was the son of Dr. Ralph Bircher and Mrs. Eleanor Culver Bircher.
When you have a child with a disability, it can be isolating, parents say.
But with the Rochester Raiders adaptive sports teams bringing together Byron and Rochester athletes, students with disabilities are joined for camaraderie, competition and fun. The Raiders includes players in grades 9-12.
Don Scheller was born in Des Moines, Iowa, during the time his physician father was an intern there. Following that training, his parents and one-year-old Don moved back to their home state of South Dakota to Arlington, which is about 20 miles west of Brookings on Hwy 14.
His father took over the medical practice of a retiring doctor. Don has two younger brothers and they all graduated from school in Arlington.
Braxton Raymond died too young at 22 but family and friends and are keeping his memory alive with a memorial benefit in Kasson on May 22.
Braxton played basketball, first in St. Peter and then in Kasson-Mantorville.
“He just loved basketball,” said his mother Cyndi.
