Dr. Michael Neubeck, principal at Mahtomedi Middle School will take over as the Byron School District superintendent on July 1.
Byron School Board members officially approved his contract Monday night pending completion of a background check.
Board members interviewed three finalists last Friday before choosing Neubeck.

Evelyn R. Knudson, 60, of rural Racine, Minn., formerly a longtime Dodge Center resident, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021, following a short illness, at Mayo Clinic – Saint Marys Campus, where she had been a patient for the past three weeks.

Ruth I. Bierbaum, 96, of Mantorville, formerly of Apple Valley, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Saint Marys Campus in Rochester. 
Ruth was born on May 8, 1924 in Elgin, to Henry and Mary (Dunn) Schroeder. She married John Bierbaum on June 5, 1943. They were married for 65 years and together had four children.

Robert “Tex” Gene Madsen, 80, of Kasson, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Mayo Clinic Saint Marys Campus in Rochester.
Tex was born on Oct. 21, 1940 in Claremont, to Louie and Clara Myrtle (Howard) Madsen. He attended Claremont schools. He worked as a truck driver for many years.  

Muriel H. Weber, 77, of Mantorville, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2021 at the Mayo Clinic Saint Mary’s Campus in Rochester. 
Muriel was born Nov. 14, 1943 to Hazel (Mickow) and Gordon Haas in Lake City. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961 and then attended North West Institute of Medical Technique Minneapolis, graduating in 1963. 

Helen B. Peterson (Schmoll) a long-time resident of Claremont, passed away April 16, 2021 at Ecumen Seasons of Apple Valley. She was born April 28, 1932, in Kathryn, N.D., the 9th of 11 children of Ernest and Elisabeth Schmoll (Utecht). She graduated in 1950 from Dodge Center High School.
In 1955 she married Jack Peterson. They began their married life in Owatonna, lived in Dodge Center and then spent 60 plus years in Claremont.
