KoMets drop games to Cannon Falls, Pine Island
It was a rough week for the Kasson-Mantorville KoMets as they dropped games to the Cannon Falls Bombers and the Pine Island Panthers.
Kasson-Mantorville traveled to Cannon Falls Friday evening to take on the Bombers at John Burch Park. Quiet bats plagued both teams as the KoMets fell 4-1. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the second inning when the Bombers were able to plate one run on a KoMet error. The KoMets were able to even the score in the top of the fourth when Corbin Horning hit a triple down the right field line and was able to score on an errant throw to third base that went out of play.
The Bombers were able to respond with one of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning after another KoMet error to take a 2-1 lead.
Bombers then added to their lead by plating two in the bottom of the fourth. The KoMets rallied in the top of the seventh to load the bases after a Dalton Maxwell walk, and Kellen Wilke and Sean Inman singles. The rally fizzled out, however, as the KoMets fell 4-1 pushing their record to 4-7. The KoMets were back in action on May 10 at home against Pine Island.

Kasson-Mantorville vs. Pine Island
Early errors haunted the KoMets as they fell to the Pine Island Panthers 6-2 on Thursday, May 6. The KoMets got things going right away in the top of the first inning loading the bases with only one out. There was nothing going after that though, as they were not able to push across any runs. The Panthers responded with a few hits to lead off the inning and ended up crossing six runs after a couple KoMet errors. A few 0's followed until the top of the fourth inning when Kyler Kujath brought in a run with a bases loaded walk.
Mitch Nelson followed with a sacrifice fly to left field to score Landen Andrist. That's all the KoMets could muster as they trailed 6-2 going into the bottom of the fourth. All 0's from there on out as the KoMets fell 6-2.
