Has anyone else noticed Canadian geese flying south with suitcases in tow? This April weather has even migratory birds wondering, what gives?
Winter has been reluctant to loosen its grip on Minnesota. Cold, driven by harsh bone-chilling winds from the Canadian north has been plunging south onto the plains of southeastern Minnesota after seemingly given up in March when highs reached the 70s.

Beverly Jean Stucky, 79, of Kasson passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021. Funeral arrangements are by Czaplewski Funeral Homes. 

High School baseball teams were in action last week with Byron, Kasson-Mantorville, Hayfield and Triton all seeing action.

Byron’s Girls Track Team started the season off on April 8 looking just as strong as they did since their last meet a year and a half ago. The girls outscored their opponents by almost 100 points.  The girls finished with 122 points to Pine Islands 36 and Kasson-Mantorville’s 28. The girls took first in 16 of the 18 events and several girls finished in the top four scoring points.

Like everything else, the pandemic has had an effect on choir at Kasson-Mantorville High School, but three senior singers continue to shine through it all.
Olivia Smith, Rachel Tuma and Gabe Bungum, each 18 years old, have sung the national anthem at football, hockey and basketball games. They are known for wowing the crowd with their stand-out performances.

When Triton High School Principal Luke Lutterman told Rebecca Goossens that he needed her to be at a teachers meeting last week to give a presentation on a school program, she thought it somewhat unusual but didn’t really give it much thought.

Charlie Sinnwell grew up on a farm between Nashua and Ionia, Iowa, near the location of the Little Brown Church. He was the oldest of 10 children. Charlie said since he was the oldest he helped his parents get their parental training which helped the rest of his brothers and sisters.

Byron moved a step closer to hiring a new school superintendent this week.
School board members were scheduled to meet in a special session Tuesday evening to review superintendent applicants’ information and decide on the finalists. They were also to decide on a schedule for interviews, interview procedures and interview questions.
