Two Area seniors receive top honors for piano playing

The piano students of Cindy Breederland had their Spring Recital on Sunday, May 6 at Faith Community Church in West Concord.
Lydia Perry of Mantorville and Valerie Sauder of Pine Island were awarded the MMTA (Minnesota Music Teachers Association) Challenge Trophy for participating in the MMTA programs and earning 2,500 points. They are both seniors.

Hands-On Learning

Triton’s third graders traded their usual classrooms last Friday for the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Kasson and Daley Dairy in rural Milton Township as part of Triton’s Rural Agriculture Safety Day. Totaling about 80 students, the group was split into two with one half touring the dairy farm while the other rotated between educational stations at the fairgrounds, switching places after a lunch together at the park in Mantorville.

Steven (Steve/Lars) Edward Larson, 55,Apple Valley

     Steven (Steve/Lars) Edward Larson, 55 of Apple Valley, formerly of Kasson MN, passed away quietly with his family at his side, Saturday morning April 28, 2018, after a lengthy illness.  Steve was born to Sterling and Phyllis Larson of rural Kasson.  After graduating from KM High School in Kasson, he attended Rochester Vocational School, working with electronics.  He worked as a Network Administrator in Eden Prairie, MN for 31 yrs. 

BREAKING NEWS: JUVENILE ARRESTED AFTER MAKING THREATS ABOUT TRITON SCHOOL

Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose said Saturday night that a student from Triton School has been arrested and transported to a juvenile holding facility in Rochester after allegedly making threats regarding the school.

Lowell Blair Klinepier, 83, Dodge Center

Lowell Blair Klinepier, 83, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center. Lowell Blair Klinepier was born on July 20, 1934, on the home farm in Mantorville. He graduated from Mantorville High School in 1952.

Ethel (Osterberg) Denny, 104

Ethel (Osterberg) Denny passed away on April 27, 2018 at Kingsway Retirement Living in Belle Plaine where she resided for nine years.
Ethel was born in Kensington, Minn., on Nov. 24, 1913 to Emma and Arthur Osterberg. She married Harold Denny on Nov. 30, 1939. They resided in Mantorville where they farmed and Ethel taught school for 46 years. Ethel loved teaching, music and chatting. She loved to tell stories and she had many.
