Marlin E. Miner, 75 of Blooming Prairie, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018, of respiratory failure, with his wife Jan and kids by his side, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.

REMEMBERING A DARK TIME IN CLAREMONT’S HISTORY

Since her husband was killed in the line of duty 30 years ago, Sue Lange has only missed two services at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. 
Lange returned once again last week to honor her husband, Gregory Lange, police chief of Claremont, who was gunned down and beaten while responding to a domestic disturbance on July 5, 1988. 
“It is so moving,” Lange says. “It is on such a grand scale.”

A School of Excellence

The hard work had been already done when Nick Jurrens took over as principal at Triton Elementary last summer. His predecessor successfully coordinated all the grunt work for a top state honor, leaving Jurrens with the easy job of putting on a party to celebrate. 

Gerald F. Oxley, 87, Blooming Prairie

Gerald F. Oxley,87, of Blooming Prairie, died Monday, May 7, 2018 at Prairie Manor Care Center.  
He was born Sept. 13, 1930 in Corwith, Iowa to Glen J. and Ruth (Gordon) Oxley. Gerald attended country school and graduated with the Corwith High School Class of 1948. In 1949, he began his service in the United States Army Air Force, serving until 1950.  

Sue E. Mataczynski, 68, Blooming Prairie

Sue Mataczynski, 68, passed away on April 26, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester after a brief illness, surrounded by her family and pets. 

Scott H. Easton, 55, Blooming Prairie

Scott H. Easton, 55, of Blooming Prairie, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie. 
Scott Harlan Easton was born May 18, 1962 in Owatonna to Harlan and Marjorie (Loew) Easton. He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1981. Scott then attended college at the Vocational Technical School in Faribault. 

Barbara Ann Witt, 86, West Concord

Barbara Ann Witt, 86, of West Concord, died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. 
She was born Oct. 30, 1931 in Rochester the daughter of Vincent and Zettie (Nelson) Pirkl. Barb grew up on a farm in Concord Township and graduated from West Concord High School.
