Dreams of a new aquatic center in Byron sank last Tuesday, Nov. 5, when the public resoundingly voted against it, 1,098 to 152.
Byron City Administrator Mary Blair-Hoeft said the proposal results clearly show that the public doesn’t want to pay the estimated $9,181,000 for a new aquatic center.

They’re called ‘The greatest generation’ and one of its members, Richard Staub, became a farmer in West Concord after participating in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. 
However, his service supporting the war started even before he was drafted as he worked in a defense plant.

Following emotional statements by the family of Rachel Harberts and her 8-year-old daughter Emerson, as well as the defendant, Dodge County District Court Judge Jodi Williamson sentenced Tanner Kruckeberg, 25, Dodge Center, to the terms of what previously had been agreed on in a plea deal.

The shovels flew with dirt Friday as local, state and federal leaders marked the ceremonial beginning of the Hwy. 14 expansion between Dodge Center and Owatonna.
This is a long time a coming. Nearly 40 years to be exact. That’s right some people have been pushing for almost four decades to improve the dangerous two-lane stretch that has become notoriously dubbed, “Highway of Horrors.”

Gloria Frieda Rieken, formerly of Hayfield, will be laid to rest on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019. Gloria passed away on or about Nov. 9, 1970 of unknown causes. Her body was discovered in rural Mille Lacs County and remained unidentified until Feb. 9, 2019.   

Esther Ann (Ingvalson) Hansen, 92, of Blooming Prairie, passed away Oct. 29, 2019 at Prairie Manor Care Center.
