After an up and down first four games, the Dodge Couty girls’ hockey team got back on track by beating Hastings 6-1 on Saturday, Nov. 23.
            Dodge County got the scoring started when Malia Schubert’s shot zoomed past the Hastings goalkeeper Alexis Steinke. She was assisted by Katelyn Courteau.
            Just over a minute later, Kennedy Kraus increased the Wildcats’ lead to 2-0 with an unassisted short-handed goal.

Northfield may have moved up to class AAAA, but on Tuesday, Nov. 26, it was the class AAA Kasson-Mantorville KoMets who were the better team as they defeated the Raiders 64-61.
Head Coach Ryan Haraldson said K-M had a slow start, but had a nice run before half to took a 26-24 lead into halftime.

Every year all the Triton Elementary third grade classes perform the story “Stonr Soup” for their parents, grandparents or others invited to attend. Last week Stacy Raaen’s class did two separate performances using slightly different scripts. In one the visitors to the village were soldiers in the second they were travelers.

Members of the Kasson Chamber of Commerce gathered at Trail Creek Coffee Roasters Saturday morning to officially cut the ribbon welcoming the business to the city.
Trail Creek Coffee Roasters is owned by Jim and Crystal Whitmarsh and actually got its start as a cottage food business in 2017.

Triton Middle School students got a chance to perform on the stage at the Triton Performing Arts Center last month as they presented “Butterfinger,” a comedy parody of James Bond written by Adam Pasen.
They first performed the play for fellow middle school students before two evenings of performances for the community.

As they do every November, the Triton Elementary School kindergarten classes spent some time in November learning about the first Thanksgiving. And before the holiday break, they went to the cafeteria where they enjoyed their own Thanksgiving “feast.”
Parents provide the food for the feast each year, which this year included popcorn, buns, beef jerky and fruit salad.

Back in September, at Triton’s Homecoming festivities on Friday night, Triton Elementary School took part in an event sponsored by the Ford Company and Zumbrota Ford.

Timothy Ibisch is officially the new city administrator for Kasson.
The Kasson City Council approved the contract with Ibisch at its meeting Nov. 26. Ibisch signed the contract on Nov. 22.

It’s fast approaching – the 2019 Byron Brrr Fest scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 12 through Saturday, Dec 14.
The annual event gets under way at 6 p.m. on Thursday with the tree lighting with the mayor and a performance by the Byron High School Choir. There will also be free hot cocoa and cider.
Friday will feature Holiday Bowling at Wildwood at 6 p.m. and drink specials and an outdoor fire at the Bear’s Den from 5 to 9 p.m.
