Kindergarteners share a feast with parents

As they do every November, the Triton Elementary School kindergarten classes spent some time in November learning about the first Thanksgiving. And before the holiday break, they went to the cafeteria where they enjoyed their own Thanksgiving “feast.”
Parents provide the food for the feast each year, which this year included popcorn, buns, beef jerky and fruit salad.
It may not have been what was served at the first Thanksgiving, but all the youngsters indicated they were very happy with the afternoon feast.
A number of parents were also able to come and enjoy the event with their children.
The feast has been a tradition for many years at the school, said long-time kindergarten teacher Katie Macrafic.
“The kids love it,” she said. “It’s good for them to sit with others and be able to share like the Pilgrims.”
The students are seated alternating between the classes so they get to eat with students other than their classmates, she said.
