BREAKING NEWS: Approximately $6k stolen from Buffet King

On Thursday, May 26, 2022, at approximately 1:55 p.m., Kasson police officers responded to a theft that occurred at Buffet King on Main Street.  Police learned that the theft occurred around noon when the suspect removed about $6,000 in cash from an employee’s purse.

NEWS ALERT: Kasson man arraigned in Kalmar shooting death

A Kasson man was arraigned Tuesday morning in the shooting death of a man Sunday in Kalmar Township. The shooting in the 5000 block of County Road 105 in Kalmar Township left a 70-year-old man dead.
William Shillingford, 31, Kasson, faces charges of second-degree murder with intent, without premeditation; second-degree murder without intent, while committing a felony, and second-degree assault with a deadly weapon.

BREAKING NEWS: KM school bus involved in accident

A Kasson-Mantorville school bus was involved in a property damage vehicle this morning.
Karlyn Brewington, communications director at the district, notified parents by email that Bus #2 was involved in the accident at the intersection of 16th St. NE in front of the high school just prior to the start of the school day.

Senator seriously injured in snowmobile crash

A Minnesota senator who represents western Dodge County is recovering in a Twin Cities hospital after a weekend snowmobile crash in northern Minnesota.
Sen. John Jasinski crashed his snowmobile around 12:45 p.m. Friday at the Minnesota Rendezvous event near Motley. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office says Jasinski was operating a snowmobile with fellow Sen. Mark Johnson of East Grand Forks.
