Byron boys soccer shuts out Lake City

The Byron boys soccer team beat Lake City on the road in a HVL matchup last Tuesday, in a 5-0 victory.
“The team placed scoring from corner kicks as a priority area to improve this week and responded with three scores from corner kicks,” Head Coach Dave Bahr said after the game.
Two of those goals came in the first half from Josh Gibson and Ryan Hartman.

Byron XC competes against best at Faribault Invite

The Byron girls cross country team faced some of the best competition it will see all season, last week at the Faribault Invite, according to Head Coach Tom O’Leary.
“Our girls really stepped up to the challenge with 6 of them setting Personal Records and nearly everyone setting a Season Best,” he wrote following the meet.

KM girls volleyball wins home opener

The Kasson-Mantorville girls volleyball team beat Lake City in three sets during its home opener last week.
Head Coach Allison Persick said her team “played united, supported each other and worked to take care of our side of the court.”
“ Looking forward to the continued growth of all players on this team throughout the season,” she said following the win.
 

Byron beats K-M in early season volleyball matchup

The Kasson-Mantorville and Byron Volleyball teams faced off last week, in a matchup featuring two teams expected to go far into the playoffs this year.
Earlier on K-M took the lead winning the first set, before Byron pulled off the nail-biter in the second set. K-M would regain the lead winning 26-24 in set three, but Byron would have the last laugh.

Cross country season kicks off for area teams

Despite “sweltering temperatures,” Hayfield Cross Country Head Coach Kelli Schmeling said she thinks her team did well.
“We’ve been battling some illnesses so some members of the team were absent,” she said, noting she hopes her team will be back to full strength this week.
Schmeling noted that due to the temperature, the meet was shortened from a 3.1 mile race to a 2 mile race.

Triton volleyball drops home opener to Pine Island

The Triton Cobras fell to Pine Island, during the team’s first game of the season last Tuesday.
After dropping the first set, Triton picked up the victory in the second for its lone victory of the night.
The Cobras would go on to lose the final two sets losing to Pine Island 3-1.
