It was the end of a journey for one main street business in Kasson on Sunday, as long time business Jimmy’s Pizza closed its doors for business permanently. 
After working at Toros in Windom for 27 years, owner Clark Faux, was looking to open his own business a year and a half ago and thought that Jimmy’s would be a perfect business for him. 

In May Byron Middle Schooler Nathan Noonan was diagnosed with Leukemia. 
Since then the community has shown its support for Noonan and his family in a number of different ways. 
After a successful fundraising baseball game earlier this year, another community fundraiser took place at the Byron American Legion a couple of weeks ago, to help show support for the Noonan family. 

This summer, 50 students from Kasson will receive brand-new backpacks stuffed with essential school supplies through the Bremer Backpacks initiative.

For a combined almost 50 years, Jeff Bernards, and Pete Wyttenbach taught in the Kasson-Mantorville School District. 
Now the pair will be continuing to teach but in a different role, as they are the new pastors at South Zumbro Lutheran Church in rural Kasson.

For Wyttenbach, his journey of becoming a pastor is unusual to say the least. 

The Minnesota Twins got shafted. 
How can the second best team in baseball only end up with two players on the American All-Star Team? How can the team that has racked up 156 home runs end up with only one batter represented in the All-Star game?
Quite frankly, the Twins got snubbed like none other. For me, it’s a real head scratcher trying to understand how this could happen.

When I moved to Minnesota over two years ago, I remember someone commented on my Facebook post about moving. 
That person gave me some of the best advice that I could listen to. They told me “make sure you go to different places that are unique to the area you're living in. Go to small businesses instead of chain places.”
I often times think about that advice when I decide on different places to go to on weekends.

Two years ago Kasson-Mantorville Agriculture Teacher Lori Pagel took a group of students around South East Minnesota to explore the eight different pathways of agriculture. 
Two weeks ago, students from K-M along with students from Byron took part in the second ever ag tour this time exploring different industries in South Central Minnesota. 

In the land where pizza tends to meet the corn fields, pizzas of different sorts captured the attention of Berne Pizza officials during their weekly pizza extravaganza June 26.

Summer can be a difficult time for families who rely on food shelves and/or free and reduced school meals for their daily nutrition. Food shelves generally see a drop in donations during the summer and schools are not in session to provide those needed meals.
For the second summer the Dodge Center Public Library is offering a way to help those individuals in need of food as well as taking care of those overdue library fines.
