Anyone who has ever been to a Triton school event or any community event in Dodge Center and the surrounding area has likely seen Chris Pluto. Often working behind the scenes, Pluto is an active member of the community.
That involvement was recognized this week as Pluto was honored as the Dodge Center Lions Club as its Citizen of the Year.

Sometimes changes bring on more positive results than one could have wished for.

A few summers ago, the game Pokémon Go became a really popular game across the country.
I remember wherever I would go, whether it was at my summer job or at the airport people were glued to their phones playing the game. In fact I remember even writing a story about how the Republican National Convention was a great place to play Pokémon Go and how that would add even more stress to the people running the convention.

On the Wednesday before graduation, Triton seniors waited outside classrooms to present their senior projects to groups of Triton teachers and community members. Some were nervous, some were confident and some just wanted to get it over with.
The senior project is a requirement for graduation at Triton High School so seniors knew how important their presentations were.

 
A public meeting will be held Wednesday, June 19, at West Concord City Hall to present information to the community about a proposal to form a new Lions Club in West Concord. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. and last about an hour.
District Governor-Elect Dale Lipke of Byron, Minn., and other Lions will be on hand to explain who Lions are and how they can serve the community.

There is still time to get your tickets for the first annual Dodge Refreshed Farm to Table Community Dinner on June 23 but you will have to hurry. The deadline to purchase tickets is June 17.
The dinner, which will be at Coop’s Event Barn in Dodge Center,  is an opportunity to enjoy a meal prepared by Omar’s Kitchen from local sources.

When DCI Sports Editor Chris Schad left his house in Rochester last Tuesday to cover Hayfield’s Baseball Section Championship Game in Austin, the weather was perfectly fine.
But like many people in South East Minnesota that evening, their commutes home turned out to be anything but pleasant.

Whether you are an aviation enthusiast or just looking for a Sunday morning pancake breakfast the Dodge Center Airport is the place to be this Sunday for the 20th Annual Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast.
The event is hosted yearly by the Southeast Minnesota Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 100.

While its not rare to see a variety of different animals in Dodge County, one animal spotting got a lot of attention last week.
Last Tuesday, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a cougar sighting in Dodge Center in  a residential area north of Highway Street near Airport Drive on the east side of town close to the McNeilus manufacturing facility.
