Walter Raymond Hinz, 94, of LuVerne, died, Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona, Iowa.

Judith Ann McGowan, 69, Hayfield

Judith Marie McGowan, 69, died on Sept. 24, 2015, at her home in rural Hayfield.  She donated her body to the Mayo Clinic.
There will be a celebration of life for Judy from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2015, at West St. Olaf Lutheran Chapel, 70640 260th Avenue in rural Hayfield.

Marlin ‘Pete’ Peterson, 72, Colorado

Marlin, ‘Pete’ Petersen, 72, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015. Marlin was born in Albert  Lea on March 1, 1943 to Leslie and Anna (Boyer) Petersen. He attended school in Albert Lea up to the ninth grade when his family moved to Kasson.

George Boyum, 79, Mankato

George A. Boyum, 79, of Mankato, died on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015 at Water’s Edge surrounded by family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Jay Dahlvang officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Northview.

Be bright, save a life

For the third year in a row, Triton High School Student Council members held a color-filled 5K run to raise suicide awareness. The third annual “Be bright, save a life” color run also helped raise funds for Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE.) 

Volleyball team continues to battle through adversity

The Triton volleyball team started with a lot of optimism. New coach Rebecca Goossens knew what she had in this team and the hope was that she could tap into some of the potential on the team to have a solid season.
While things haven’t gone as planned, the Cobras are still fighting despite picking up another pair of losses against Cannon Falls and Zumbrota-Mazeppa last week.

Stuart Streiff, West Concord

Stuart Willis Streiff was born Sept. 4, 1948, to Leon and Martha (Karlen) Streiff. Stuart died peacefully on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Mary’s Campus surrounded by loved ones. He left us with the gift of peace and he is with his Lord and Savior.

Michael Bartsch, 57, Claremont

Michael Dean Bartsch of Claremont passed away peacefully at Homestead Hospice House on Sept. 27, 2015, following an extended illness. He was 57.

Clifford Bartsch, 86, Owatonna

Clifford J. Bartsch, 86, of Owatonna died on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, at his home due to kidney failure.
Clifford was born on May 17, 1929, in Geneva, the son of Lawrence and Magdaline (Larson) Bartsch. He attended school through the eighth grade in Geneva and then graduated from high school in Ellendale in 1949. 

Tillie Ressler, 98, Blooming Prairie

Tillie C. Ressler, 98 of Blooming Prairie, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at Prairie Manor Care Center. 
Tillie Christine Risovi was born Jan. 8, 1917, in Hamberg, North Dakota, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Barnett) Risovi, Sr. She grew up in Hamberg and graduated from high school in Maddock, North Dakota, in 1936.
