West Concord backpack program a success

With school back in session West Concord’s summer backpack program has been declared a success.
The program provided food for those in West Concord who relied on free and reduced lunches during the school and may have received food on Fridays during the school year to get them through the weekend.
The program was the idea of Shannon Lisowski and Lisa Westlund but the entire community became involved, Lisowski said.

Council approves liquor license for The Annadine

A public hearing at Monday night’s Dodge Center Council meeting led to the approval of a Restricted Liquor License for Nadine Langworthy to sell liquor at The Annadine in downtown Dodge Center. Langworthy had requested the On Sale/Off Sale Restricted Liquor License. The council also approved an amendment to the City Code governing the number of available licenses in Dodge Center.

Little free libraries popping up in Dodge County

Little libraries are popping up in Dodge County and everyone is invited to use them.
The small, brightly painted little houses, which can hold approximately 30 books, are the result of a collaborative effort of Dodge Center Library Director Ingvild Herfindahl, the Friends of the Dodge Center Library, the Mantorville Art Guild and Triton High School shop classes.

Area law enforcement to patrol Fall Flood Run this weekend

Motorists are urged to use extra caution this weekend along the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers as thousands of motorcyclists take to the road for the Fall Flood Run. As many as 30,000 riders will be traveling between the Twin Cities and Winona on Saturday.

Owatonna Boys upset No. 5 Minnetonka

The Owatonna boys’ soccer team was looking to rebound after failing to complete the comeback attempt on Thursday against Northfield.  There was no better match-up to do so against than No. 5 Minnetonka.
