Throughout their high school career, there are some moments that will stick through a player’s mind forever. Sometimes it can be something as simple as a rivalry trophy that’s defended through everything that they have or it’s wanting to win a game for their coach who has spent the time and energy making sure that they grow on and off the field.

The Kasson-Mantorville volleyball team has some high goals to achieve this season and the middle part of the schedule is where some of those goals can start to become reality.

At the end of the previous school year, the Kasson-Mantorville district received word that it would be awarded a grant from Safe Routes to School. This national program makes sure that students are able to safely walk or bike to school. 

Every teacher knows that there are things he or she needs for the classroom. And then there are those things that are not really needed but could definitely enhance the learning process for all students.
The “needs” are supplied by the school district but what about the “wants?”

Sunday night was the third annual Dodge Center Emergency Services picnic; a meal hosted by the Grace Lutheran Church in appreciation for the sheriff’s office employees, ambulance drivers, and firefighters that serve and protect the town. The church also invites the families of these men and women to come enjoy delicious food and the comradeship of the church.

City Administrator Lee Mattson presented a resolution regarding the 2017 Improvement Project to the Dodge Center City Council at the Sept. 26 meeting. This resolution, created after a public hearing on the project, stated that improvements to the following streets are both necessary, cost-effective and feasible:
3rd Avenue NE between 2nd Street NE and 4th Street NE
3rd Street SE between Central Avenue S and 4th Avenue SE

Fall is always a special time of the year as farmers get the opportunity to reap the benefits of what they hope will be a bumper crop. Harvest season is once again upon us as long as Mother Nature cools her jets in the rain department.
