Bruce Alan Skow passed away Oct. 7, 2016, at Fairview Care Center, Dodge Center.
Bruce was born June 13, 1937, on a farm near Rutland, Iowa, to Alan and Marjorie (Lansing) Skow. The day Bruce was born, it rained so much that the doctor had to wade through knee-deep water walking up the driveway.

Robert Paul Chesnutt, 82, of Kasson, passed away peacefully on Oct. 4, in his home at Prairie Meadows Senior Living. He had been a resident there since April 2016. 

Searching to keep the hot streak going into the playoffs, the Owatonna Huskies had one final test with Rochester Century. For senior Abukar Fakrudin, he was planning on keeping not only the Huskies streak alive, but built onto one of his own. 

Dodge County has been placed under an emergency quarantine by the state Department of Agriculture after an emerald ash borer was found in a trap mounted to an ash tree in Kasson in September. The trap and the infected tree are located between the high school and the Holy Family Catholic Church, explained Parks and Recreation Director Ron Unger at a community meeting Monday night. The trap was set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

One of the biggest parts of the journey to becoming an Eagle Scout is a service project. A Kasson-Mantorville High School student has turned that part of his journey into something fun for middle school student.

Countywide recovery efforts are underway in the wake of recent flooding.
Public infrastructure damage is currently totaled at $1.9 million. $260,000 of that is in debris clearance costs. Damage to roads and bridges was $472,324, and damages to utilities equaled $300,000. Another $330,000 was found in damage to public buildings.

The Owatonna Huskies have been strong all season and at the biggest meet of the season so far, they battled. 
Crowning champions at No.3 singles and No.1 doubles, the Huskies finished second at the Big Nine conference meet in Rochester. Rochester Mayo was the conference champion, scoring 73 points-15 ahead of the Huskies. Head coach Curt Matejcek said that every point mattered. 

In light of recent flooding, Governor Dayton declared a peacetime state of emergency for the counties of Anoka, Blue Earth, Cottonwood, Dodge, Faribault, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Hennepin, Houston, Le Sueur, Mower, Nicollet, Olmsted, Ramsey, Rice, Scott, Sibley, Steele, Wabasha, Waseca, Washington, and Winona.

Kasson-Mantorville students are getting to know a new School Resource Officer in the 2016-2017 school year after former SRO Jason Peck was promoted to Sergeant. 
With the recent changes in the Kasson Police Department, Officer Jesse Kasel recently made the transition from Patrol Officer to School Resource Officer. Kasel had been working as a Patrol Officer since 2010. The promotion has been quite a change for Kasel.
