Robert Chesnutt, 82, Kasson,

Robert Paul Chesnutt, 82, of Kasson, passed away peacefully on Oct. 4, in his home at Prairie Meadows Senior Living. He had been a resident there since April 2016. 
Bob was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Phillipston, Pa., to Roy and Garnet Chesnutt.  After graduating high school, he married Helen Loretta Chesnutt on July 29, 1953, in East Brady, Pa. Soon after that he enlisted in the Army and served in the military for three years. During his enlistment, the family lived in Heidelberg, Germany.
After leaving the service, he started his career with IBM in Pennsylvania. This job took him to San Jose, Calif., and eventually to Rochester in 1966. He worked for IBM for 25 years until his retirement in 1985 and then continued on as a supplemental employee with IBM until 2001.
After the death of his wife, Helen, on Sept. 11, 2005, Bob married Margaret ( Maggie) Stoutner on Sept. 1, 2007, in Waterloo, Iowa. They were married nine years. They resided in Kasson for a few years and then moved to Washington, Iowa. The couple loved to winter in Green Valley, Ariz. Bob recently moved back to Kasson, making Prairie Meadows his home in April 2016.  
Throughout his life, Bob loved to work on cars, collect cars and talk about cars. Repairing and restoring cars was his love and his passion.  He sought out the local car clubs in every location that he lived. 
Bob was a member of the Hiawatha Antique Automobile Club and the Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Presbyterian Church of Kasson.  
Preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Helen, Bob is survived by his children: Robert (Rhonda) Chesnutt of Arvada, Colo.; Joan (Gary) Olson of Mazeppa, Minn. and James (Barbra) Chesnutt of Lakewood, Colo. Bob had eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his second wife, Margaret (Maggie) Stoutner.
His funeral was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Kasson on Oct. 7 with Pastor John DuBall officiating. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
