Things were hopping Friday night at the West Concord Public Library as children and adults came out for the Pajama Party to support the upgrades to Lions Park.
The city is upgrading the park, including the playground, to make it accessible to all.

Snow is still coming down but the people at Dodge Refreshed are already planning for spring and summer events.
Dodge Refreshed is a citizen driven group that was formed to help Dodge County residents grow in health and wellness by promoting awareness, improving access to resources and building strong connections, said Kristin Cerda, chair of the Dodge Refreshed group and an employee of the Dodge County Public Health.

Dodge Center is offering a chance to get out and enjoy the winter weather this Saturday with a Candlelight Hike at Creek Park.
Activities will get under way at 6 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m.
This will be the third candlelight hike, said Liz Johnson, the city’s community development specialist.

For nine years, Mantorville Farms was an online business which helped put chocolates made in Mantorville in the hands of people across the country.
After a tough go of things with more and more competition online, the online business came to an end in February of 2018.
“Our sales were flat the last few years, so we decided to try something else,” said Terry Eckstein, owner of Mantorville Farms.

A couple of years ago, Alanis Morissette came up with a remix of her popular song “Ironic,” performing it on James Corden’s show.
In a fun way, she remixed the song to modify it for 21st Century problems.
One of the parts of the song says, “It’s like swiping left on your future soulmate,” referring to popular dating sites like Tinder.

This winter snow blast that we have been enduring for the past few weeks has been exposing my weaknesses.
I’ll be the first to admit that I am not mechanically inclined. The thought of trying to repair something just makes me quiver in my skin. And makes me run for the Tylenol bottle as a pounding headache settles in quicker than Mother Nature can deliver her surprise to us.

The funeral service for Leslie “Les “ Severson, 68, of  Stewartville, will be at 11 a.m. on Friday Feb.15 at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Rock Dell, with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside honors by Stewartville American Legion Post 164. Mr. Severson died on Friday Feb.

Jacqueline Joyce Tendick, 86, of Hayfield,  passed away at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.
Jacqueline was born on Aug. 5, 1932, the daughter of John and Julia (Bjorge) Sund in Westby, Wis.

Kenneth Lee Urbach, 76, of Mantorville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center.  
He was born on April 2, 1942, to Ernest and Ruth Urbach in Rochester. Upon graduating from Grand Meadow High School in 1963, Ken entered the Marine Corps.
