Sipping With Seniors

It was standing room only at last Thursday night at "Sippin’ with the Seniors" at Prairie Meadows Senior Living in Kasson. Music was provided by The Preserves from Rochester and a great selection of food was available to all of those that attended the monthly event in the dining area. In the addition to the usual events there were also some kid-friendly activities.

Miss America Pageant leads to singing career for Jill Mertens

After her talent portion of Miss America finished, after the preliminary rounds, she was approached by Universal Records, in which they asked her if she was interested in signing with them. She told them she needed to complete her reign as Miss North Dakota first.

Kasson church getting ready for Bible School

It will be several weeks before youngsters come to Our Savior’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kasson for the church’s annual Vacation Bible School but there is already a lot of activity at the church in preparation for the week.
Church member Geraldine Struss has been coordinating and doing the props for the event for about 20 years for a simple reason.

Angela Organ is organizer behind Berne Wood-fired Pizza

Angela (Derby) Organ has always called Berne, home. In fact, her daughter's middle name is Berne!
She grew up on her family's dairy farm with two siblings and was active in basketball, SADD, AFS, band, and choir at Triton High School. She was also involved with the Dodge County 4-H program and the county fair.

Carla helping at the Hy-Vee breakfast

Minnesota State Sen. Carla Nelson was at the Hy-Vee in Kasson Friday morning to help serve breakfast to area veterans. Saturday, November 11, was Veterans Day but because the holiday fell on a Saturday, the federal observance of the day was Friday. EPA demands state to take action in Karst Region

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken drastic action by instructing Minnesota agencies to take immediate steps to address the nitrate contaminated drinking water crisis threatening the karst region in southeastern Minnesota, including northern Dodge County.
