While we usually expect the question, “Who are you?” to be made by somebody you don’t know, it doesn’t have to. Who you are depends an awful lot on who is answering the question. The question can also be directed at ourselves. Although we are just one person, we can be different things to different people.

In the last several years, I can’t seem to watch anything on TV for very long before I am assaulted with another ad for some type of drug to solve some type of medical problem. Since the FDA has allowed the advertising of medications, the networks have found a never-ending source of revenue as national pharmaceutical companies try to convince consumers they need the next miracle drug.

Apparently, even at my age, I’m not too old to learn something new. Unfortunately, what I learned is that I’m probably somewhat of a “Luddite.” To those of you that are also baffled by the term, I’ll try to explain.

Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation(SMIF), in partnership with publishing companies Capstone and ABDO, is accepting applications for its Early Literacy Grant program. This grant is designed to support early literacy efforts that enhance school readiness for children birth to age eight by providing children with books.

For Christmas, my wife got a new purse from our daughter. It wasn’t because her old one was worn out; in fact, I don’t know if she has an old purse or just a bunch of purses. I know she changes purses because when she uses a different one, she laments what she has left in the previous one.
