By the time this comes out in the paper, we will be past the 4th of July. With the passing of the 4th, my mom would often say, “Well, summer’s about over.”
I hated to hear that as a kid because I knew when summer was over school would begin again. Later in life, as a teacher, I felt the same way. But we do still have the rest of July and all of August and many times September is really nice too.

 Kenneth Myster played quarterback on Hayfield’s first football team. He went on to St. Olaf College, University of Minnesota Law School, and started practicing law in 1926. In 1931 he ran for Dodge County Attorney and held the office until 1947. He moved to Kasson in 1937 and had a law office above the Kasson State Bank for many years. He was very active at St. John’s Lutheran Church plus several judicial associations and passed in 1986.

Several weeks ago, we came home from a Berne pizza outing only to see flashing lights from police, first responders and an ambulance just a few houses away. The first reaction is to wonder which neighbor it was that needed help. It is much more personal when it is somebody you know. 

CLIMB Theatre will perform a play at Kasson Public Library on Friday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m. The play is based on the book Be Strong! and has been written just for the library. This project is part of the the library’s Summer Reading Program, and received funding through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
The summer reading theme is Everybody Can!

Did you ever notice the patterns that seem to develop in certain cultures? It seems certain numbers are woven into countless aspects of their society. For Americans it seems to be threes. They seem to be everywhere.
From the very beginning of a child’s life, we are inundated with threes. As a child I was read stories and nursery rhymes about the Three Bears, the Three Little Pigs, the Three Blind Mice and Three Men in a Tub.

Once our Summer Reading Program begins, it seems like we are on a merry-go-round that doesn’t stop! It is great to be able to see families and especially kids coming to our programs.
Be sure and join us on Thursday, June 16 at 1 p.m. for the Bazillions, a children’s singing group. Last year, we recorded them to be seen on Facebook, but this year they will be live and in person. Singing and dancing to their music is encouraged!
