Social Security announces 3.2 increase for 2024

Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for more than 71 million Americans will increase 3.2 percent in 2024, the Social Security Administration announced to earlier this month. On average, Social Security retirement benefits will increase by more than $50 per month starting in January.

‘Boo for Food’ comes to Kasson, Mantorville

All members of the Kasson and Mantorville communities are invited to take part in “Boo for Food” from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
The event is sponsored by the Kasson-Mantorville Ministerial group.
Fifth through 12th graders, as well as adults, will be out collecting food for the local food shelves.

Kasson Hy-Vee and the Dodge County Salvation Army have joined forces for the 1st annual community Winter Gear, Food and Hygiene Drive to help feed and keep Dodge County warm.

Options to help others this Halloween

Halloween is fast approaching. It’s always a fun time for kids who go out trick-or-treating and also for adults to enjoy the Halloween parties. And many people also enjoy decorating their homes for the holiday.
All of these are fun events to be enjoyed. This year, however, there are a couple of new events in the area that will not only be fun, but make you feel good about helping others.

Oct. 28 benefit for Dawn Frieberg

A benefit to help Dawn Frieberg of Hayfield who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28.
The benefit will be held at the Hayfield Pub/American Legion starting at noon. There will be a silent auction, bake sale and a meal served.

Local Knights of Columbus provide ‘Coats for Kids’

If families are struggling to clothe their children with warm coats this winter, the Knights of Columbus are available to meet this basic need through the “Coats for Kids” program.
