Oct. 28 benefit for Dawn Frieberg

A benefit to help Dawn Frieberg of Hayfield who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28.
The benefit will be held at the Hayfield Pub/American Legion starting at noon. There will be a silent auction, bake sale and a meal served.
It is free to attend the benefit and all funds raised will go to Frieberg, Nicole Bacigalupo, a friend of Frieberg who is helping to organize the benefit, said.
Her fundraising target is $5,000, she said, which will help Frieberg when her insurance deductible “hits in January.” Along with medical expenses uncovered by insurance, funds raised will go to help with regular daily living expenses such as gas, food and other necessities.
“I’ve known Dawn for about 15 years now,” her friend said. “She’s an Air Force veteran. She was active in the military for a few years back in the late 1980s. We’re trying to give back to someone who has committed her whole life to public service and military service.”
Frieberg is currently the 911 dispatch supervisor for Dodge County.
Frieberg’s husband Mark also serves the community by way of serving on the Hayfield Ambulance. The couple has one daughter and one grandson, who live in the metro.
Frieberg had a double mastectomy in June and is now undergoing a course of weekly chemotherapy treatments which are expected to last for five months.
Her Hayfield friends and sheriff’s office coworkers are organizing the benefit.
On the silent auction will be gift card vouchers for local businesses, a signed Paul Krause Vikings jersey, and a Dale Earnhardt Jr. racing jacket, among other items. Frieberg has also made some bookmarks, gift card wallets and hair scrunchies that will be for sale.
There will also be a bake sale, with as many as 50 baked goods for sale. The baked goods will generate funds by way of free will donations. Ribbons and bracelets will also be for sale.
The Village Pub will offer a meal of pulled meat sandwich, cookie, and chips and there will be a drink special that day as well, Bacigalupo said.
The Village Pub is located at 7 Main St. East in Hayfield. To donate to the bake sale, silent auction or get more benefit information contact Bacigalupo at 507-273-1307.
