Dodge County boys sweep the week

The Dodge County hockey boys picked-up a couple of more victories following last week’s action. Winners of four straight games, the Wildcats edged a formidable Chisago Lakes team, 2-1, on the road, Tuesday, January 2. Saturday saw the DC guys topple Hopkins, 5-2, at Dodge County Ice Arena in Kasson.

It was a busy week for area high school wrestlers as Byron and Triton boys were at the Bombers Invite, the Byron girls at The Clash in LaCrosse, Westfield at a quadrangular, and the KoMets at the Cheesehead in Wisconsin.

DC hockey girls play tough holiday tourney

MINNEAPOLIS — The Dodge County girls competed in the Blake High School Crosstown Cup Tournament on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, December 27, 28, 29. It was a successful venture for the Wildcats, as they went 2-1 on the tourney, against some very formidable competition. On Wednesday, DC fell to Centennial/Spring Lake Park, 3-1. The loss was just the Cats’ second of the season, against 11 wins.

Byron grapplers “rumble” in Fargo

Byron Varsity, JV and Girls headed to Fargo, North Dakota for the annual “Rumble on the Red” wrestling spectacular. Byron had two place-winners; John Paul Lorentz placed 3rd on JV and Hattie Mathre placed 6th. Team Placing: Varsity: 59th out of 67 Teams; JV: 40th out of 73 Teams; Girls: 25th out of 52.

DC Wildcat boys at Kiwanis Festival

ROCHESTER — The Dodge County hockey boys competed in the 30th annual Kiwanis Festival, played at Rochester’s Graham Arena, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, December 27-29. On Wednesday, the Wildcats fell to a tough Eagan squad, 6-1. Thursday’s action saw Dodge County top East Ridge, 4-1, and DC’s final game of the tourney resulted in a 5-4 victory over Fargo South/Shanley.

DC boys’ hockey edged by Cardinals

LUVERNE — The Dodge County boys hockey team met a tough opponent in Luverne last Friday, December 22, at Blue Mound Ice Arena. It was the Cardinals who emerged victorious in this one, by a 4-3 final tally. Next up for the Wildcats was the Rochester Kiwanis Hockey Festival, beginning on Wednesday, December 27, at Graham Arena.

Lady Wildcats rolling along

Perched in the catbird seat at an overall mark of 11-1-0, the Dodge County girls hockey team is on a five-game winning streak. Most recently, the girls defeated Visitation, 8-0, on Tuesday, December 19, at Dodge County Ice Arena. The Wildcats followed up that feat with a 3-1 win over the Breck Mustangs, on Thursday, at the Breck Ice Arena.
