Meinard E. Haberman, age 76 of Blooming Prairie, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, St Mary’s Campus.

Every morning I seem to go through a battle with my alarm clock. And it’s not pretty. I never seem to come out on top.

Berry lovers will find miracle strawberries fresh and close to home over the next few weeks.  
In the fourth year of offering berries, Barry Moiser, owner of Miracle Strawberry Farm of Dodge Center, says it’s the best crop he’s been able to offer. What helped push the berries to their fullest potential this year was no hail, no late frost and a warm May, he said. 

Garage sales, music, bingo and food weren’t the only things blooming during Dodge Center’s weekend summer festival. Quilts stitched with memories of love ones from family members also bloomed during the celebration.
The United Methodist Church displayed 70 quilts from 15 different people on Friday and Saturday. The quilts were carefully placed over the pews allowing people to marvel at the creativity used by the quilters.

Old Glory is once again fluttering through the air in front of the historic Kasson School.
On Flag Day, the Kasson Alliance for Restoration (KARE) dedicated a new flagpole and raised a new American flag at the main entrance to the school in recognition of the school’s 100thanniversary.

A Kasson police officer is behind bars facing charges in connection with a sexual assault.
Julio Baez-Cisneros was booked into the Olmsted County Jail on Tuesday at 7:35 p.m. He is expected to be arraigned on charges Thursday morning.

Ronald Allen Swenson Sr., age 76, passed away peacefully at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna.
A graveside service and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Blooming Prairie. 

Ruth Elaine Buckley, 91, of Detroit Lakes, passed away the morning of June 3rd in St. Paul surrounded by her adoring family.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond Fay Threinen was held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the Church of the Holy Family in Kasson with Father John Lasuba as celebrant. 
Mr. Threinen, 94, of rural Mantorville, died of natural causes on Friday, June 1, 2018 in hospice care at The Bluffs in Lake City.
