In many ways COVID-19 has brought out some of the worst and best of humankind.
Yes, we’ve had riots in New York, Portland, Minneapolis, St. Louis and Seattle. The virus has also brought out the best.

Betty M. Pyfferoen, age 93, passed away at Madonna Summit in Byron, on Sept. 29, 2020. She had been a resident at Madonna Living Community since May of 2015.

Linda Lou Ann (Stensrud) Blaisdell, 79, of Northfield, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, at home with her family by her side.
Born Feb.  21, 1941 in Kasson, to mother Frances (Stevenson) Stensrud and father Hilmen Stensrud, she was raised on the family farm in rural Kasson. She attended a one room country school, Dodge County District #34 School for seven years, and then graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 1959.

Roger S. Erickson of Pensacola FL, formerly of Kasson, passed away Aug.1 2020.
Roger was born Dec. 31, 1929 to Chester and Dorothy Erickson of Kasson. He grew up in Kasson and graduated from Kasson High School in 1947. He then attended St. Olaf College in Northfield. He received a bachelor’s degree in 1951.

Byron Girls soccer hosted a game on their home turf last Tuesday night against the Kasson Mantorville KoMets. The last game between the Bears and KoMets, they tied 2-2, this time both teams wanted a win.
As the game began, with less than a minute into the first half, the KoMets almost scored a goal. The crowd was off of their seats as it was a high kick that just barely missed the net.

A local restaurant known for its homemade food is celebrating 25 years in business.
Country Pleasures Café is “the hometown café that knows you when you walk in the door,” said co-owner John Hazuka. He owns the café with his wife Denise.

Four individual businesses, run by Stevie Ersland, Amanda Marsden Hulm, Katie Burbank and Trina Klunder make up an original business called The Main Alternatives in the Kasson Mini Mall.
Opening the business was delayed for 73 days because of the virus situation but they were finally able to open their business on June 1. Each individual business has its own hours.
