Local competitors pursue goals through bodybuilding

There are times in life when it seems like a goal that one wants to obtain is unreachable. Sometimes, that can be as simple as losing a couple pounds or going back to school to pursue a degree. 
However, it tends to get complicated when life gets in the way. People get married. They have a job. They start a family. All of these things take away the focus toward that goal and steer them into a path of complacency.

Larry William Huckins, 67, Mantorville

Larry William Huckins, 67, of Mantorville,  passed away peacefully, Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born Feb. 16, 1948 in Cresco, Iowa to John and Naomi (Gager) Huckins. Larry was a graduate of John Marshall High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. On Nov. 14, 1987 in Rochester, Larry married Lori Woolley. Larry and Lori owned and operated L&L Vending.

Keith Wayne Barker, 63, Dodge Center

Keith “Skeeter” Barker, 63, of Orland, California, a long time resident of Dodge Center, passed away Sept. 16, 2015 at his home.  A memorial service will be held on Oct. 3, 2015 in Orland, CA at the Moose Lodge, with a memorial service being held in Dodge Center at a later date. Keith “Skeeter” was born the son of Orval and Adeline Barker on July 8, 1952 in Great Lakes, Illinois.

Kay E. Spurbeck Fee, 71, of Mantorville

 Kay Elizabeth Spurbeck Fee passed away at her home in Azusa, California on July 12, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. Kay was born Dec. 1, 1943 and was raised in Mantorville with her parents Levi and Midge Spurbeck. She graduated from

Vernon Joseph Lutterman, 91, Dodge Center

 Vernon Joseph Lutterman  is happily reunited with his beloved wife and son in heaven. He passed away peacefully Friday, September 18, 2015, at Red Cedar Canyon Memory Care, Hudson, WI. Vernon was born June 28, 1924, the son of Ben and Anna (White) Lutterman, in Sibley, Iowa.

Sofia Camille Minelli, 8, Kasson

 Sofia Camille Minelli, 8, of Kasson, died peacefully at home with her parents by her side on Sept. 11, 2015 due to an inoperable brain tumor, (DIPG). Sofia was surrounded by loved ones and visitors in the days and weeks prior to passing. She touched many people with her kindness, bravery, determination and smiles. Sofia was born on March 26, 2007 in Rochester to Mario and Carin (Cooper) Minelli.

Gavin Nicholas Quimby, 5, Winona

 Gavin Nicholas Quimby, 5, of Winona, died
peacefully at home with his parents by his side on
Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 due to complications from
a transplant for Metachromatic Leukodystrophy

Robert H. Peterson, 60, Dodge Center

 Robert “Bob” H. Peterson, age 60, of Dodge Center, died Saturday afternoon, Sept. 5, 2015, at his home surrounded by his familyand friends. Robert was born on Sept. 29, 1954, in Waseca, and is the son of Harvey and Florence (Krueger) Peterson. He graduated from Waseca High School in 1973. On Dec.17, 1973, he married Vicki Skinner in Waseca. Bob was an electrician for 27 years for Adair Electric in Rochester.
