There are plenty of stories that make up the Kasson- Mantorville wrestling team. As a dominant program, there are some kids that step on the mat and instantly find their way onto the top of the podium. For others, their path to success is a work in progress that starts at an early age and requires patience to reach their final destination.

As has been the case in recent history, Kasson-Mantorville
was well represented at the Rochester Area Sports Commission Banquet on Monday night. In another case of history repeating itself, a KoMet athlete and a coach walked away with hardware at Monday’s event as K-M volleyball’s Peyton Suess was named the Female High School Athlete of the Year and K-M wrestling coach Jamie Heidt was named Coach of the Year.

For the third straight year, the Kasson-Mantorville girls powerlifting team captured a state title. K-M accomplished  the feat at the third annual Minnesota High School
Meet in Rockford, Minn. on January 12 and had a team of eight female lifters and five male lifters competing.

Last weekend was another big test for the Kasson- Mantorville wrestling team as it headed to Kaukauna, Wisc. To take part in the Cheesehead Invitational. Just like the Minnesota Christmas Tournament, the Cheesehead not only featured some of the top competition from the state of Wisconsin, but also featured teams from Minnesota and Illinois.

The Kasson-Mantorville girls basketball team had a strong showing at the Winona State Holiday Classic last week as they were able to take a game from host Winona and had a great effort against #8AAA Red Wing. While the KoMets were strong in one game, they showed they had plenty to improve upon if they want to make a run in March.

In the early portion of the season, the win-loss record for the Kasson-Mantorville boys basketball team isn’t what they expected. With three losses dropping the KoMets to 1-6 on the season, it would be easy to say that things aren’t going the way they should.
However, K-M is showing improvement with each game and it believes that their work will pay off as the season goes along.
