With the disappointment of falling short of capturing the team title long behind them, the Kasson-Mantorville wrestling team was on a mission heading into the Minnesota State Individual Tournament. The previous weekend, the KoMets had sent nine wrestlers to St. Paul in the Section 1AA Tournament  and many were poised to continue their success in a field loaded with some of the best wrestlers in the state.

In the moments after the K-M wrestling team’s loss to Simley on February 16, I stood around many of the stunned members of KoMet Nation.
The wrestling team had just lost their first dual during my four years as sports editor at the DCI and as it picked up its second place trophy and stood for a team photo in disappointment, there was one thought that would come across my mind.

Entering the Section 1AA team wrestling tournament, the paths of Kasson- Mantorville and Simley seemed intertwined. The two teams were ranked first and second in The Guillotine’s Class AA rankings and in each of the past two years, the KoMets were able to get the best of the Spartans in the section championship dual on their way to state championships.

The Kasson-Mantorville girs basketball team is starting to build momentum as it heads into February. The KoMets have been on a hot streak lately winning seven of their last eight games and with a convincing 84-74 victory over Stewartville on February 1, K-M is playing some of its best basketball of the season.

It was a big night for the Triton Girls Basketball team on February 1 as Kendra Petersohn scored her 1,000th career point against Goodhue. The junior guard became the first Triton girls basketball player in nearly 20 years to accomplish the feat when she sank a free throw late in the second half against Goodhue.

On January 21, Peyton Suess sat with many of the best high school athletes in the area. As part of the Rochester Area Sports Commission Banquet. She was up for the Female High School Athlete
of the year award, many of her friends and family were on hand for the occasion and she even had a live television interview with KAAL prior to the banquet.
