SPORTS UPDATE: Steele County teams move onto state semis

Two Steele County football teams have moved onto state semifinals after wins Saturday afternoon.
The Blooming Prairie Blossoms rolled over United South Central 42-0 in Class 1A quarterfinals in New Ulm Saturday. Junior Gabe Hagen scored the game’s first points on an 80-yard catch from Kaden Thomas.

STATE BOUND AGAIN

The Kasson-Mantorville volleyball team is heading back to the state tournament. The KoMets advanced to state for the third straight year after claiming their third consecutive Section 1AA championship by defeating Stewartville and Lake City last week.

KoMets’ streak hits 19

The Kasson-Mantorville vollyball team seems ready for the stretch run. The KoMets have been on fire since a couple of early season defeats in Marshall and
after defeating Triton and winning the Apple Valley Classic tournament title, K-M will turn their attention to
a section tournament run after battling top ranked Stewartville on Tuesday.

With Stewartville showdown looming, K-M hits its stride

Throughout the season, the Kasson-Mantorville volleyball team has been focused on taking things one game at a time and continuing to get better. As the games and the victories piled up for the KoMets, there was one game at the end of the schedule that kept getting bigger and bigger.

A HAPPY HOMECOMING FOR K-M

Coming off a 29-28 overtime defeat to Plainview-Elgin- Millville, the Kasson- Mantorville football team came into this week searching for consistency. With plenty
of questions about an offense that struggled in the second half of that game and a defense that was gored for over 300 yards on the ground, the KoMets had to find a way to play at their best more often in the second half of the season.

Suess honored for K-M volleyball records in surprise ceremony

The first year that Kasson-Mantorville senior Peyton Suess stepped onto the varsity volleyball team was five years ago. As Suess was an eighth-grader at the time, she was joined by head coach Adam VanOort who was beginning his tenure leading the program.

Back on Track

Last week, the Kasson- Mantorville football team dropped a tough game against Zumbrota-Mazeppa. While the sting of the 13-10 defeat was still fresh in their minds, the KoMets knew that they had plenty of football yet to be played and that task started with hosting La Crescent Sept. 7 at KMTelecom Stadium.
