Smart phone companies have partnered with coronavirus contact tracing, whether a users has an iPhone or an Android. By merely flipping a switch, on a smart phone there will be contact tracing, which is called “Exposure Notification.”

This has been a year unlike any other and that’s especially true for Byron’s Amy Kyllo; but for her it’s been a unique year for an entirely different reason other than COVID-19.
            For the past 10 months she’s served as the 66th Princess Kay of the Milky Way.
            As Princess Kay, she’s gotten to travel around the state talking about dairy farming and being an ambassador for the Midwest Dairy Association.

Cade Spreiter, a 2020 graduate of Kasson-Mantorville High School was inducted into the Naval Academy Class of 2024 Thursday, June 25, and will begin six challenging weeks of basic midshipman training as part of Plebe Summer.

Randolph “Randy” Scott grew up in Augusta, GA where His his father worked as a prison guard in a family of four boys. Randy said he played football and basketball while in high school and would play tennis in the city parks and was in the scout program.                  
He had a variety of jobs such as a short order cook and also cleaning up at the well-known Augusta National Golf Course, famous for the Masters tournament.

Donna Hindal passed away Friday, May 29. She was born March 3, 1942,  to Howard and Irma Hindal. She attended and graduated from Pine Island High School. She moved with her family from place to place, living in rural Kasson, Pine island, West Concord Dodge Center and finally in assisted living in Byron.

Duane Herman Barwald, 65, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020 at his home in Dodge Center.
Duane was born on May 14, 1955, the son of Deloren and Edna (Faylor) Barwald, on the family farm in Dodge Center. He attended Dodge Center schools and graduated from Harmony. He moved back to Dodge Center to be with his family. He married Pamela Kay Roe on October 29, 1976 and together they had one child, Melissa.  

Marlin Dale Johnson, 75, of West Concord, died Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 12, 1945, in Tyler, the son of Frank and Gretchen (Hassman) Johnson. Marlin graduated from Tracy High School in 1963.
On June 19, 1963, he entered the United States Navy and served two tours during the Vietnam War. On June 16, 1967, he was honorably discharged and returned home.

Moriah Mastin, 16, is accustomed to kids playing the ‘hold your breath underwater’ game at the Kasson Aquatic Center where she’s a lifeguard.
But something told her there was something wrong with a preschool girl who was underwater for too long just five minutes into her shift on Tuesday, June 30.
