Neil Witzel grew up south of Kasson and was a 1975 K-M graduate and was involved with the school FFA program.
His grandmother (Laura Witzel) used to raise and sell some flowers and poultry, when he was growing up, to doctors and fellows that his dad worked with at the clinic. Witzel said he probably planted his first pumpkin seeds in 1976.
Still, farming was not the first career he was involved in.

It was Kids Night Friday at the Chateau Speedway in Lansing.   

Leaving Bangkok, I flew to Busan, Korea, where I had lived from 2012-13 as an English teacher, to visit friends and roam around “the San Francisco of Korea” for a week.

Nathan Noonan, 15, wasn’t expected to be here this summer, says his dad Don Noonan, playing baseball like he has in years past.
So his dad attends every practice, never missing a moment.

Brian Xavier first lived in Kasson when in first and second grade as his dad was the Senior High School principal in the old Kasson school building.
Since they did not live far from the school he enjoyed going to the movies at the Kasson State Theater on Sunday afternoons for six cents admission and ten cent popcorn even though his dad was not enthused about him going to the movies on Sunday afternoons.

This has been a year unlike any other and that’s especially true for Byron’s Amy Kyllo; but for her it’s been a unique year for an entirely different reason other than COVID-19.
For the past 10 months she’s served as the 66th Princess Kay of the Milky Way.
As Princess Kay, she’s gotten to travel around the state talking about dairy farming and being an ambassador for the Midwest Dairy Association.

I’ll admit it. I’m not real crazy about wearing my protective mask, but if anything, it’s probably all for selfish reasons.
I’m not one to start any sort of controversy over adapting to Minnesota’s new mask order, which took effect on Saturday. Basically, if you’re out in public, you need to mask up or else.

If there’s such a thing as normal life anymore, we seem to be inching our way toward what most would consider normal. Last weekend my wife and I had a garage sale. People actually showed up. Some of the garage-salers wore facemasks, others did not. No big deal.
