A scary moment while in search of fair food

By now, everyone probably is aware of my love for the fairs. As many fair lovers are finding out this year, the COVID-19 pandemic is crimping our lifestyle for the summer.
On Saturday, I set out in the search of fair food to at least wet my appetite with some treats. I brought my oldest daughter and my parents along for the Drive-In Dairy Days at the Steele County Fairgrounds.

Postal blues with paper delivery

A public visitation took place on Friday, June 19, 2020 at the Brick – Meger Funeral Home in Owatonna. Due to COVID-19 regulation, it is requested the public wear face masks. A private funeral took place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Litomysl. 

Excitements builds as pools open

Excitement was building for area pools to open for the shortened season. Moms, Dads and kids full of pent up energy were looking forward to the opening of pools around Dodge County.
Kasson’s pool opening was set for last Friday. Wouldn’t ya know it, kids were awakened by rain pelting the roof of their family’s home.

Judith “Judy” H. Dunn, 75, of Hayfield, passed away at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, on Friday, June 19, 2020 after a 54 year-long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Judy was born June 14, 1945 in Fosston, MN to Herman and Della (Thompson) Simonson. She was a 1963 graduate of McIntosh High School and went on to vocational school in Thief River Falls for secretarial studies.

Harold Wilke a longtime ‘fixture in Kasson’

K-M kicker receives Division I interest

For K-M kicker and punter Aaron, Thursday, June 18, was a big day.
That’s because it was the day he received a pair of letters form Nick Goeser, special teams coordinator for North Dakota State University (NDSU).
In one of the letters Goeser wrote, “I think NDSU might be a great fit for you.”
Winkle said receiving those letters from the eight-time Division I FCS National Champions was a high honor.

The Byron school board discussed Byron participating in the Inside Out Initiative and the filing deadline for the four four-year term positions open for the school board election on Tuesday, Nov. 3, during its meeting on Monday, June 15.
