Alzheimer’s families need support to get through tough times

Despite the rain Saturday morning, it wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits of family members in Steele County whose loved ones are battling Alzheimer’s, perhaps the greatest mind and memory robbing disease affecting nearly 7 million people in the U.S.

K-M Lions ‘scrap metal’ drive Sept. 28

Kasson-Mantorville’s Lions Club will have a “scrap metal” drive from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lions Park in Kasson on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The club will be accepting any metal items including stoves, washing machines, dryers, lawn mowers, cans, tillers, pipes, vehicle batters and similar items. Refrigerators, freezers and electronics or freon-sealed units will not be accepted.

Remembering

Although every denomination deems it a Sacrament, the meaning and manner of the Lord’s Supper—also called Communion and Eucharist—has caused many fierce debates among the many streams of Christianity. Recently, a friend of mine offered the children in his church a novel way to imagine it.

Lost Faculties playing at library Oktoberfest

Lost Faculties, a well-known area band with an unlikely beginning, will be entertaining visitors to the Kasson Public Library’s Oktoberfest celebration on Sept. 28.

Anderson wins KM XC Invitational

Kasson-Mantorville High School sophomore Kalin Anderson won the Kasson-Mantorville Cross Country Invitational last week, running a time of 18:24.4.

Triton/K-W/Hayfield soccer drops both games at Lake City Invitational

The Triton/K-W/Hayfield Girls Soccer team traveled to Lake City for an invitational over the weekend and was defeated in both games.
In the first game Romina Medina and Gigi Lundi each scored goals in the 10-2 loss versus Lake City.
Goalkeeper Alyssa Knudson had 11 saves and gave up seven goals in 56 minutes and Miley Dostal had two saves and gave up three goals in 24 minutes.

Triton sees success in tournament play

The Triton volleyball team was successful at the Carolyn Hummell Invitational tournament at Jackson County Central over the weekend, winning the Silver Division.
The Cobras went 4-1 during the tournament, with its only loss coming to Jackson County Central.

KM girls soccer drops two games on the road, beats Red Wing

The Kasson-Mantorville girls soccer team finished 2-1 in its last week of play.
Last Monday, the KoMets took on Northfield falling 3-2. Northfield took a 2-1 lead into halftime, with KM and Northfield trading goals in the second half.
Mackenzie Carrier and Delaney Awe both finished the game with a goal, and an assist against Northfield while goalkeeper Kiley Meyer finished the game with four saves.
