The Dodge and Olmsted County Farmers Unions are hosting a Meet the Candidate forum at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at Frank ‘N Stein Restaurant & Lounge, 15 Frontage Road N.W., Byron.
State House candidates and 1st Congressional district candidates have been invited.
Candidates confirmed to attend include Rep. Steven Jacob and Michael Hutchinson from District 20B, Heather Holmes from District 24A and Ken Navitsky from District 25A.

Positions on area school boards and the Dodge County Commissioners are on the November ballot.
For school boards, positions are open the Byron, Kasson-Mantorville, Hayfield and Triton districts.
There are contested races in both Byron and Kasson-Mantorville.
In addition to those who filed for positions write-in candidates can be entered.

SAINT PAUL — In the first four weeks of voting, local election officials distributed 716,858 absentee and mail ballots in Minnesota. County, city, and township election officials have accepted 337,633 ballots, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office. These totals continue to outpace the mail and absentee acceptance totals in the 2016 General Election.

Minnesota voters will be asked to vote on a constitutional amendment to the State Constitution regarding the Environment and Natural Trust Fund renewal.

When area voters go to the polls on Nov. 5 most communities will have races for city officials. The DCI sent questionnaires to all candidates who filed for election and were in contested races. The responses received are included here.

The Hayfield volleyball team had a “great battle,” during its game against Waterville Elysian Morristown last week, to end the regular season, Head Coach Samantha Thurman said, but in the end, they came up short, losing 3-1.

The Triton girls volleyball team fell to Kenyon-Wanamingo 3-0 to end its regular season last week.
