Yes, local newspapers do make a difference

Last week I took a road trip with a friend of mine to Chanhassen, and no, we didn’t catch a show at the dinner theater.
We went to a volunteer launch, for a newly formed online news platform called Carver County Local News.

Why Donald Trump must not be elected

There are three primary reasons I believe Donald Trump must not be elected President.

On Choosing the Right Path

I often think about the rules of the road. Of course, this is a good thing when one drives on the road. When driving we have to know how fast we should go, when we can pass or when we cannot, when we need to stop, when we need to yield for pedestrians, etc. This is all obvious to us.

EDITORDCI@KMTEL.COM
Area residents will be heading to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 5, for the 2024 general election. Voters will be casting their ballots for a variety of federal, state, judicial, county, city, and school board positions. There will also be one amendment to the Minnesota State Constitution on the ballot.

Byron residents will vote on school levy

Residents of the Byron School District will be voting on a levy referendum that, if approved, will increase the district’s general education revenue by $800 per pupil, subject to an annual increase at the rate of inflation. The levy would be effective with taxes payable in 2025 and applicable for 10 years unless otherwise revoked or reduced.

Where do I vote?

Voters will go to their designated polling place on Tuesday, Nov. 5, to cast their ballots.
Most polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. although some of the smaller townships may choose to open their polls at 10 a.m.
Byron residents will vote at Byron City Hall, 680 Byron Main Court NE, Byron.
Claremont residents will vote at Claremont City Hall, 140 W. Front St., Claremont.

Direct early in-person now available

Voters who wish to cast their ballots before election day may now do so.
In Dodge County, absentee ballots in person are available at the Dodge County Government Services Building in Mantorville during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., now through Nov. 5. Direct balloting is also available during those hours.

WAITING FOR THE VOTERS

Election judges were ready and waiting for voters coming to the Canisteo Town Hall, south of during last spring’s Presidential Primary. Election judges will be back at their polling place on Nov. 5 for the 2024 General Election.
