Something that happened to my youngest daughter a few weeks ago took me back in time to my childhood.
Just in time for Christmas, my daughter got the gift I’m sure she probably could have lived without, at least in her mind—braces on her teeth. It probably won’t be for a number of years before she really appreciates the gift.

When I first moved to Minnesota I knew right away that I wanted to become involved in the community that I lived and worked in.
I moved to St. James, about 45 minutes south of Mankato, and quickly realized that some of my skills, and out of the box thinking could be beneficial to the community.

After 12-1/2 years as Dodge Center’s finance director, Julie Beth is headed down the road to Rochester where she has assumed her new duties as director of finance for the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency.
Her final day in Dodge Center was last Wednesday, and she started her new duties the next day.

For Braxton Raymond, the communities of Kasson-Mantorville and St. Peter have always been intertwined. As his family moved all over the Midwest during his childhood, his stays in those communities were his longest and as Raymond became one of the top high school players in the area, he gained many friends and supporters along the way.

As has been the case in recent history, Kasson-Mantorville
was well represented at the Rochester Area Sports Commission Banquet on Monday night. In another case of history repeating itself, a KoMet athlete and a coach walked away with hardware at Monday’s event as K-M volleyball’s Peyton Suess was named the Female High School Athlete of the Year and K-M wrestling coach Jamie Heidt was named Coach of the Year.

Lois Ann (Lysne) Jafolla, 76, formerly of Blooming Prairie, passed away in Flower Mound, Texas on Jan. 18, 2019.
Lois is survived by daughters, Lynn (Joe) Poole and Christine (Jim) Reed; four grandsons; and two great-grandchildren, all of the Dallas-Fort Worth area; a sister, Carol (Leo) Haubenschild of Rochester and a brother, Douglas Lysne of Blooming Prairie.

A former Kasson police officer has admitted to sexually abusing young victims spanning more than 20 years.
On Friday, Julio Baez entered guilty pleas in Olmsted County District Court to a number of sexual assault charges involving three victims and across three southeastern Minnesota counties.
