The wrestling dual between Kasson-Mantorville and Zumbrota-Mazeppa was going to be a major event in the landscape of the sport. 
The dual featured two defending high school state champions and teams that were ranked atop their respective classes. 
With the KoMets’ nearly 10-year Hiawatha Valley League winning streak on the line, this had everything a wrestling fan could want.

You could say garage sale season began Jan. 27.
Yep, it was chilly outside. And garage sales are typically a warm weather phenomenon, of course.
Thus, Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center held its first “Ultimate Indoor Garage Sale.”

After 24 years of law enforcement service, Galen Heinle got to thinking about the future.
“It took me a lot of time to think about what I want to do,” the Dodge County Sheriff’s deputy said. “Do I want to retire? I love my job, but my mind and body says it’s time to hang it up and enjoy retirement.”

Lois Arlene Nash, 88, of Dodge Center, passed away on Jan. 24, 2018 at Whitewater Health Services in St. Charles.
 
Lois was born Oct. 4, 1929 in Olmsted County to Miles and Frances (Currier) Brannan. She married Kenneth L. Nash on Feb. 18, 1948 in Menomonee Falls, Wis.  They made their home in Ripley Township, Dodge County, where they farmed for many years.  
 

Samuel Myron Peterson, 72, of Ellendale, died Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at a later date for Sandra Lee Shanley (nee Youngdahl), 75, of Anoka.
Sandra was born in Chicago on Sept. 9, 1942 and died on Dec. 23, 2017.

Owatonna senior Peyton Robb added another impressive accolade to prep career on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Hutchinson Invitational when he broke the school’s career pins record.
The previous record of 94. Robb now has 99 in his career and 24 this season. He has a chance to surpass the Owatonna single-season record of 34.

It's suddenly prom season.
Unbeknown to me, the season has crept up on us. While the date still lies three months away, my friends have taken no notice of it. They are concerned with much more then the fact that prom is still three months away. We have to get ready now.
