Memorial services for Timothy C. Boever of Blooming Prairie will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Services in Albert Lea. Pastor Dwight DoBell will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded. Friends may visit with family one hour before services at the funeral home.

Helga M. Grant, age 78 of Austin, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Mary’s Campus.
Helga Maria Stroebele was born July 11, 1941, in Wilhelmskirch, Germany, the daughter of Erwin and Berta (Strasser) Stroebele. She grew up and attended school in Germany. Helga was trained as a seamstress and worked in factories while in Germany.

When papers close, cost of government goes up

It’s with great sadness that I noticed yet another Minnesota newspaper has ceased publication within the past couple weeks. This is at least the second newspaper in the state to shut down this year. 

Alex Nuehring named new DCI Sports Editor

The DCI has a new Sport Editor as Alex Neuhring began in his new role on Monday.
Nuehring is replacing Chris Schad, who left the paper at the end of the spring sports season.
Although this will be his first time working for the DCI full-time the Rochester native has knowledge after interning in the summer of 2017.
