Marigold Days becomes wrapped into the fabric of Mantorville

When William and Marylee Lambert moved into their historic home in Mantorville around Thanksgiving in 1983, they had no idea what was in store for them.
The Mantorville Restoration Association reached out and invited them to dinner shortly after they moved in. By January, William was calling bingo at the Mantorville Opera House. They have since embraced themselves into the fabric of the community by volunteering in many ways.

Alwes remembered for her love of making donuts at Casey’s

It may have been the busiest day of the year for Casey’s in Mantorville with Marigold Days in full swing, but that didn’t stop the store managers and employees from remembering one of their own who died suddenly earlier in the week.
Lorie Alwes, 59, of rural Kasson was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Labor Day as she made her way to the store in the early morning hours to do what she loved to do most—make donuts. 

Kruckeberg pleads guilty in Harberts crash

Two days before the first anniversary of the Highway 14 crash that left a beloved school teacher and her daughter dead, Tanner Kruckeberg, 25, of Dodge Center pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide.

It's back to school time

It's hard to believe that I graduated from high school six years ago and graduated from college three years ago. 
Even though its been a while since I have been out of school this time of year I always have flashbacks to the first day of school.

Latecomer to 4-H, Allen rises to the top quickly

Even though she is relatively new to the 4-H program, Mollie Allen of Kasson is making a big splash with 4-H.
Allen and 27 other outstanding Minnesota 4-H youth have been selected as Minnesota 4-H State Ambassadors for 2019-20. Their first big leadership opportunity came at this year’s Minnesota State Fair. 

County Seat gets new owners

The County Seat in Mantorville has new owners, as Michelle Douk and Wa Phy have bought the business.
The couple have taken over the longtime Mantorville business after owning the Chinh Express in Rochester for years until Aug.1. 
Going into owning the chineze restaurant, they had a goal of owning their own business that would allow them to own their own building as well within five years.
