Worried that more flooding may be on the way, the Kasson City Council is exploring ways to reduce future flooding.
Councilman Lonnie Zelinske expressed his concern about more flooding at the Jan. 22 city council meeting.
“I have fear that this spring if we get rain or snow, we may have more flooding than we did last year,” he said.

The Dodge County Independent has been named one of the best newspapers in Minnesota.
On Thursday, the newspaper earned first place in general excellence at the Minnesota Newspaper Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest in Brooklyn Park. General excellence is one of the highest awards given out to newspapers in the state.

Vince Reynolds didn’t think there was anything particularly unusual about his family suggesting that they have a family dinner out Saturday night at the Hayfield American Legion. That is, until he walked into the Legion hall and saw his sister and brother-in-law and a group of other Hayfield residents already there.

An early morning crash has claimed at least one life in Dodge County. 
The crash happened around 5:40 a.m. on Highway 218 south of Blooming Prairie in Westfield Township. 
The State Patrol says a Toyota Camry was southbound on Hwy. 218 when it collided with a northbound vehicle. The Camry caught on fire. 
Assisting at the scene were Steele, Dodge and Mower sheriff’s offices. 

Doris Helen Brown, 87, of Kasson passed away peacefully Jan. 16, 2020 at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
She was born in Lanesboro, Minn. on Aug. 18, 1932 to George W. and Frances I. (Young) Buck.
She graduated and moved to Rochester where she met Roy A. Brown. They were married Aug. 19, 1950.
