Don Pappas has announced that the family is selling Mantorville’s Hubbell House to
Rochester-based Powers Ventures.
The Hubbell House has been owned since 1946 by the Pappas family and has been a
fixture in southeastern Minnesota since 1846. The family says that they were not
actively looking to sell the restaurant but that circumstances just happened that
made it the right thing to do.

Arlene Corene Helleck, age 89 of Blooming Prairie, passed away on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, at Kingsley Shores Assisted Living in Lakeville.
Arlene was born to Willie and Marie (Anderson) Holm near Geneva, on April 6, 1930. Arlene attended  the District 2 Country  School through  9thgrade,  and later completed her education graduating from Blooming Prairie High School in 1947.

Melford Wayne Schneider, age 82 of Albert Lea, formerly of Blooming Prairie, died on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health System Austin.

Joyce Rockne Larson passed away in the early hours of Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019 at Fairview Southdale Hospital after a short illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents HB and Sarah Rockne; her husband Walter Larson, who died in 1986; her sisters Ruth and Ariel; and her brothers Hubert, Donald, Henry “Hank,” and Bruce.

It’s a special time around our house this week as the queen of our household  celebrates yet another birthday.
This queen has the run of the house day and night and really doesn’t have to do anything or report to anyone. She quite often gets a little temperamental and thinks she owns the place. She doesn’t have the time of day for anyone unless it’s on her terms. What a life, I’m constantly reminded.

David Erick Kranz, 76, of Byron passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020 at St. Marys’ Hospital in Rochester.
David was born on March 31, 1943 in rural Harmony to Walter and Hilda (Rausch) Kranz.
He graduated from Mayo High School and he worked many years for Road Constructors.

Dianne F. Erdman, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends.
She was preceded in death by parents Earl and Leone. She is survived by brother Daryl (Audrey); nieces, nephews, many friends and longtime friend Colleen. The funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 24, 2020 at Washburn-McReavy, Eden Prairie Chapel, Eden Prairie.
